Have your say on the qualifications needed to get an SIA licence

The following message is issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA).

Every five years we review the qualifications required for an SIA licence to make sure they are up to date with the law, technology, and the way people work.

We want you to help by telling us what you think of our revised specification documents. The specifications set out what an individual needs to know and be able to do in their role as a security operative. They form the basis of the qualifications required by SIA licensing.

We have updated the specifications based on suggestions made by representatives from the private security industry and awarding organisations, and the feedback we received during our consultation last year. You can download a report on that first consultation here (PDF, 388kb).

Please visit the consultation website to download the revised specifications and tell us what you think. You have until the consultation closes on Monday 11 February.

Remember, this is your opportunity to help shape the qualifications and to ensure they stay relevant for your industry in the years ahead.
